It’s tax season, and if you didn’t purchase health insurance in 2014 you may be seeing a new penalty this year. The “shared responsibility payment” is showing up on tax returns for the first time this year.
If you saw a fee for lack of health insurance, don’t worry. You still have time to purchase a health insurance plan for 2015 so you don’t incur another penalty next year during tax season.
Who is eligible?
If you incurred a penalty on your taxes, you are eligible to enroll for health insurance in North Carolina for 2015, even though the Annual Enrollment Period has ended! The penalty for not having health insurance doubles in 2015.
